2020 is the Year of the Rat and the whole of Brentwood Park is embracing the Chinese language and culture. How exciting! Chun Yan and Daisy our Chinese culture and language teachers say ” huān yíng 欢;迎”.
At Brentwood Park Primary School, students from Foundation to Year 6 attend a 50-minute Chinese language and culture class per week. Students have the opportunity to explore and experience Chinese language and culture. The Chinese language and culture program focuses on the five core elements of:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
- Chinese culture
The curriculum across Foundation to Year 6 is delivered through engaging activities such as educational games, characters writing, Chinese songs, dances and Chinese festival celebrations that helps students to develop their Chinese language skills and the confidence to embrace Chinese culture.
Brentwood Park Primary School has a Sister School partnership with Yangzhong Experimental Primary School in Jiangsu, China. Students in Year 5 and 6 participate in a Cultural and Language Exchange Program in which they travel to China and study in our sister school. This partnership has provided our students great opportunities to further develop their language skills, experience Chinese culture and build friendships with sister school students.
